162,816 of which 115,011 are literates and the metropolitan area has a population of
217,895 of which 147,156 are literates. [5]

population of 164,932 with 12% of population under 6 years of age.[1] According to this
census, males constituted 50.2% of the population and females constituted 49.8% and
proddatur had a literacy rate of 63.8%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male
